This heavy-duty ductile iron casted vise has a dual jaw system equipped with a bench jaw to perfectly secure your wood or metal works as well as other manufacturing applications and a pipe jaw for your pipe and tubing projects such as cutting or threading.
Yost Vises has been producing high-quality vises and vise accessories since 1908. We supply our products to both large distributors and individual craftsmen throughout the world ranging from industrial-grade vises, professional-grade vises, workshop-grade vises, light to heavy-duty vises, multifunction vises, welding vises, etc... Our products meet or exceed the Industrial Standard of Federal Specification GGG-V-410A, providing consumers with quality products that last for years at a great price.
I like this vise a lot. Build quality is good, but there are a few adjustments that may be necessary. Any slight misalignment of the main jaws can be fixed by loosening the jaw screws, realigning, & re-tightening. The smooth V-jaws on mine were about 1/8” out of alignment with each other. I intend to slot the holes in the jaw plates with a rotary file so I can adjust them. There is a little slop in the jaw rotation, but this goes away once you tighten the main screw. The vise arrived from Yost very well packed, which tells me that Yost cares about it arriving in good condition. The pipe jaws can grip a pipe as small as 5/8” diameter. If you remove the main jaws, you can further tighten the main screw to grab a tube as small as 5/16” diameter. Very nice. I recommend purchasing the accessory magnetic vise jaws (plastic UP 360 & rubber-coated aluminum MR 350) as well, which are so easy to pop in & out. For mounting the base, I found an even better alternative to carriage bolts: ½” allen socket cap head bolts with a 5/8” O.D. sleeve. These provide a better fit for the 5/8” holes, and you can use a 5/16” allen wrench to secure the head when tightening the nuts. The dual lockdowns with the toothed base plate are a great feature, preventing any rotation. A user manual is provided in the packing, with a good parts diagram. This vise was a bargain at Yost’s sale price. Lastly, it’s a beauty to look at.
Awesome ice. A great addition to my shop.
Great vise. Rotation locks in place with a pin. Floating pipe jaws accommodate irregularities in item secured. You have to use a carriage bolt in the front mounting foot to get full rotation.
I use it on flatbed service truck, we broke Harbor Freight vise in less than a week and one other brand, This vise has lasted 6 years so far, if you need a good vise, spend the money and buy the 750-DI, not the E (economy) model. It will be well worth the difference, the Ductile Iron is way harder thatn the Cast Iron.
